Reporting to Director of Sales, this position will be part of the Columbia/Okura Sales Team and requires close coordination with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to drive the implementation of various projects. This position provides a critical function within the Sales Team and will interface with channel partners and end customers. He/she will be integral to the overall success of the technical applications of Columbia/Okura’s projects.

The individual in this role will bring a collaborative approach to help drive sales. He/she will have broad strategic thinking abilities, coupled with excellent problem solving skills and creativity to help the company implement its advantages and grow in the various markets it serves. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and resourceful contributor with strong critical thinking skills, sales support, and positive can-do attitude. Superior attention to detail and continually striving for business excellence will be critical competency for success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and possess the following:

  • Perform application engineering/technical support functions within sales team.
  • Provide input into initial and ongoing product development based on understanding of end customer needs.
  • Work closely with project managers as well as the engineering and manufacturing teams to assure project objectives are met.
  • Support the technical and design aspects of specific projects. Work with internal groups, channel partners, and end customers. Prepare and provide/present proposal/project information as required.
  • Understand the relationship between key technical application metrics and Columbia/Okura’s business performance.
  • Ensure that business processes include the capture of data needed to analyze key technical application metrics.
  • Travel to support projects as required.

Desired Experience

  • Education: Minimum of a two year degree in CAD, engineering, or relevant technical field. An undergraduate degree (B.S. / B.Engr.) is preferred.
  • Experience: Entry level – some experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions to executives, managers, partners and customers.
  • Capable of working in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

  • Leadership: Ability to develop, manage, and lead application engineering/technical support functions within an organization. Ability to translate objectives into direction for self and others, particularly in ambiguous situations within fast changing internal and external environments.
  • Technical Expertise: Understanding of basic engineering principles and fluent in AutoDesk suite (primarily AutoCAD and Inventor). Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Creativity and innovation encouraged.
  • Problem Solver: Strong problem solver with a flexible/dynamic mindset and ability to identify and fill gaps.
  • Technical Writing/Materials: Ability to develop/package clear and robust technical materials to fulfill end customer and channel partner technical information needs.
  • Communication: Excellent communication (written/verbal) and listening skills. Bilingual a plus (Spanish/Portuguese).
  • Customer Orientation: Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical customer service to internal groups, channel partners, and end customers.
  • Performance Measurement: Ability to understand the business implications of key technical application metrics.
  • Process Development: Collaboratively create, implement, and document/communicate efficient business processes on an ongoing basis.
  • Team Orientation & Management Skills: Team player with collaborative mindset – invested in the overall success of the solutions sales team.
