Summary:

Set up, operate and tend to multiple saws to cut raw materials to specific print lengths

Responsibilities:

  • Understand basic blueprints, sketches and drawings to determine part cut lengths
  • Remove any burrs prior to sending parts to next operation
  • Follow routed instructions to ensure that parts are manufactured correctly
  • Calculate how to utilize materials with Min Drop / Max Yield
  • Able to properly rig and move material using overhead cranes
  • Run saws efficiently in relation to speeds and feeds
  • Perform initial quality control and appropriate marking for restock and inventory
  • Follows all Safety and Company policies and procedures including PPE
  • Meet routed standards and perform duties related to company metrics

Skills:

  • Ability to recognize different types of steel and how they affect cutting
  • Basic understanding of and ability to follow blueprints, machinist functions, set up sheets, sequence of operations, “one-offs” or “non-repeat”
  • Ability to follow dispatch list
  • Ability to read tape measure to within 1/32 of an inch
  • Able to read/use a tri-square and a dial caliper

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 year of experience preferred
